About the Viking Supporters Co-operative

The formation of the Viking Supporters' Co-operative represents a milestone in the relationship between the club and its supporters.

The Society has now been running for over a year, and is registered as an Industrial & Provident Society. Members have the opportunity to buy one (or more) shares in the society at £15 each. In addition to that there will be a small annual membership fee to pay of £10. We will then take the money that is raised and use it to buy shares in the club on behalf of the members. We currently hold almost 10,000 shares on behalf of the supporters of Doncaster Rovers.

In return for our efforts, the club have given us a directorship on your behalf following our formal launch in August 2001. Members are able to attend the Society's annual meetings and raise issues that they would like to have heard at board level as well as hearing news direct from the boardroom. The whole scheme is totally democratic and all members have a vote on the issues that they care about.

Many schemes like this exist at other clubs and they have been proven to work. There are now 56 trusts, 9 with supporter-directors and 3 other Conference clubs have established trusts.

By agreeing to accept a supporter-director on your behalf, the board of this club have announced their intentions - they want to know what you think. We need all of you to help make this work.
